AudioEye Accessibility Technology is Strategically Positioned to Deliver Accessibility Solutions to Updated Standards with Automatic Detection and Remediation of Common Errors of Digital Accessibility Under New Guidelines
Tucson, Arizona, January 18, 2017 – AudioEye, Inc. (OTCQB: AEYE) (“AudioEye” or the “Company”) today announced its Digital Accessibility Platform, or DAP, is fully aligned with requirements under the “refresh” to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. In January 2017, the U.S. Access Board issued the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Standards and Guidelines, which served to update the existing Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Standards under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. § 794(d)), requires U.S. Federal Government agencies to make their electronic and information technology (EIT) accessible to people with disabilities. As of January 18, 2018, federal agencies are required to conform to the new standard.
AudioEye technology has been adopted and embraced by some of the largest and most influential agencies in the Federal Government, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Social Security Administration (SSA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB). The update to DAP will provide for seamless transition to the new standard where required.
While the 508 Refresh directly impacts only those federal agencies covered under the Rehabilitation Act, many states have passed laws identical or similar to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act or require compliance with Section 508. Key entities impacted may include schools, universities and local and state governments, which are also required to make their websites and digital content accessible in alignment with the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
“Our robust digital accessibility test suite fully aligns with the 508 Refresh, allowing our clients to track and maintain conformance with the new informative guidance provided from the U.S. Access Board in conjunction with the ICT Refresh,” said Sean Bradley, AudioEye CTO. “We work with clients and partners serving K12, higher education and state and local governments, required to comply with 508 and/or WCAG standards through federal and/or state requirements.”
The Most Trusted Solution of its Kind, DAP Publishes More Than a Billion Remediations Daily
The Digital Accessibility Platform is proprietary technology developed by AudioEye to automatically identify and track errors and potential errors of accessibility on existing websites, while also assisting designers, developers, or other accessibility stakeholders as they seek to avoid publishing inaccessible content, altogether. The technology goes beyond testing to also continuously monitor content and functionality for accessibility issues and can even be deployed in a way that dynamically fixes issues through a mix of automated and manual processes, speeding the process to achieve compliance with ADA-related accessibility requirements.
“Digital accessibility is bigger than the 508 Refresh,” said Todd Bankofier, AudioEye CEO. “Whether an entity has the immediate need to achieve compliance under the ICT Refresh, is managing complaints and/or violations stemming from Title III mandates enforced by District Courts, is addressing Title II complaints investigated by the Office of Civil Rights (OCR), or simply has a commitment to accessibility and inclusion because it is the right thing to do, AudioEye is the fastest, most comprehensive and efficient path to digital accessibility.”
