AudioEye Leverages Its Technology for PDF Document Accessibility
Web Accessibility Company Expands Solutions to Include Technology-based PDF Remediation
TUCSON, Ariz., Jan. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — AudioEye, Inc. (OTCQB: AEYE) (“AudioEye” or the “Company”) today announced the addition of PDF Accessibility Solutions to its service offering. The company, a leader in technology-based website accessibility, publishes more than one billion remediations daily on thousands of sites for nearly 500 businesses. This newest platform enhancement enables customers to achieve and maintain accessibility in compliance with ADA-related digital accessibility requirements and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA on static and dynamically-generated PDFs. This is the first of several new services planned by AudioEye in 2018 as part of its aggressive growth strategy focused on new product launches, continued penetration in its target markets, and expansion into new markets. The company recently announced preliminary new cash contract bookings of $6.3 million for 2017, a YOY increase of nearly 250%.
This cloud-based solution will continue to push the envelope as more businesses and organizations look to automate accessibility compliance processes such as those supported through the Ally Product Suite, including testing, remediation, monitoring, and now, the PDF tagging process.
“For any business or organization, web accessibility is the first step of a comprehensive accessibility plan and commitment to providing equal access for millions of people with disabilities,” said AudioEye CEO Todd Bankofier. “Our clients, covering a range of industries, provide informational documents on their sites – many in portable document format, or PDF, creating issues of accessibility. This is particularly true in high growth end markets such as K-12 and financial institutions. In addition, with the Section 508 ICT Refresh, Federal Agencies are now required to ensure WCAG 2.0 AA conformance for all newly published PDF documents uploaded on or after January 18th, 2018. Just like a website, if these documents are not designed, tagged, or remediated for accessibility, they’re impenetrable to assistive technologies. Our new service will rectify these issues in an economical way that allows AudioEye customers to more fully serve their users by allowing them access to these important documents.”
AudioEye’s new service is positioned to address needs on two fronts. The first, static PDF remediation, will take the most ubiquitous types of PDF documents, and through leveraging proprietary AudioEye cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) technology and processes, similar to the company’s core Ally Managed Services, remediate the documents to make them tagged for accessibility in conformance with WCAG 2.0. Upon remediation, documents are expertly tested to validate accessibility and usability. The second, dynamic PDF remediation, will serve companies who provide information via downloadable PDFs through dynamic processes – such as requesting insurance cards or banking statements. AudioEye will configure the templates for real-time remediation and on demand download of fully accessible PDFs.
Chief Technology Officer, Sean Bradley said, “We developed and refined the real-time document remediation process through a project with ADP. They needed to provide their customers with an accessible solution for one of their highest volume needs, downloadable W2s. AudioEye configured an accessible template, enabling any of the millions of employees working for a client of ADP to login and request an accessible downloadable version of their W2.”
PDF template remediation is an ideal solution for high volume applications where, through a dynamic and on-demand process, standard information is pulled from an existing database to auto-populate a form that is then available for download in a portable document format.
“AudioEye is laser-focused on Digital Accessibility,” said Mr. Bankofier. “This is the next step in providing advanced accessibility solutions for online applications. The most important thing we never lose sight of, is that this new service takes another, even bigger step towards creating equal access online for millions.”
