The United States has seen an exponential rise in lawsuits relating to website accessibility—but what is the situation in other parts of the world? Individual countries and political unions have their own enforcement strategies and penalties for non-compliance. In this paper, we look at the legal position in some of the major world economies, the standards that must be reached, and the incentives for companies to take a proactive approach to website accessibility.
