Webinar Q&A
AudioEye's Webinar: Unlocking An Inclusive Workplace in 2024 on November 15, 2023.
Q: How can you validate the accessibility of your trainings, i.e., videos?
A: If you're recording live videos, make sure that closed captions are included and can be enabled in the video player or learning platform. You can also offer a plain text transcript of all audio content.
Q: Can you go into more detail about hiring tools that may have some biases due to AI?
A: There is valuable research regarding AI specific to people with disabilities from Jutta Treviranus, Director of the Inclusive Design Research Centre (IDRC) and professor in the faculty of Design at OCAD University in Toronto. It speaks to the increasing complexity of decision-making processes and the growing appeal and usefulness of AI decision tools. Jutta highlights the challenges of data diversity, predictive accuracy, data privacy, and the need for transparency in data usage in her Keynote from W3C AI and Accessibility Research Symposium 2023.
Q: I love that you are including accessibility training with new hires. Can you estimate how much this is costing or saving the organization?
A: All new hires undergo 8-hour Foundations of Accessibility training produced and delivered by AudioEye experts. As an organizational member of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP), we subsidize IAAP membership for employees, offering free preparation for the Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies and Accessible Document Specialist exams. AudioEye pays the exam fees for any employee pursuing IAAP certifications which are about $500 each. This enables our people to better understand disability and the barriers people with disabilities experience. Those barriers are the problems we aim to solve. And so by having more people have that education across our organization, we can be assured that our approach is informed from the same basic knowledge. It's better helping us understand our end users and their needs so the savings here, for AudioEye, is exponential. I can't put an actual number on it. But for us it's it's mission-critical, being able to do our jobs effectively and to serve the community and our customers.
